Policy Advocacy

We must work at the intersection of individual, school-based, and governmental action to build a more just education system.

In an effort to foster systemic change, EI typically hosts multiple policy forums over the course of a year to develop and establish an equity-minded education policy and advocacy agenda. We bring together a wide range of stakeholders to discuss the importance of co-creating policies at the district and state levels that promote equitable opportunities and outcomes for students of color. The views, thoughts, and opinions of various stakeholders in attendance help inform specific policy recommendations that focus on educational equity and incorporate the voices of historically marginalized communities.

Most recently, EI has focused on establishing a comprehensive education policy platform that promotes the development of a more racially, culturally, and linguistically diverse education workforce. This policy platform also will include recommendations to support and better prepare educators to effectively work with all students.
